Car crashes into Pasco County fire station, causes gas leak

Parts of SR-54 were shut down in Land O’Lakes because of the gas leak.

Update: SR-54 has reopened as of about 2:30 p.m., according to Pasco County Fire Rescue.

A truck that crashed into a high-pressure gas main and then into a Pasco County Fire Rescue station caused a gas leak Sunday afternoon, according to fire rescue.

SR-54 is closed between Ballantrae Boulevard and Sunlake Boulevard while fire rescue and TECO gas work on the scene, according to fire rescue. There are no evacuations called for because of the leak, though area residents may smell the leak, according to fire rescue.

The driver of the car, whose name was not released, was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. He crashed into Fire Station 37 in Land O’Lakes with his F-250.
