A 79-year-old woman died and five people were injured, two seriously, after a two-car crash in Pasco County Wednesday night, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.
The crash occurred about 9:10 p.m. Wednesday at State Road 56 and Meadow Point Boulevard. Troopers said both cars went into the intersection at the same time and crashed, though it’s unknown what color of light either car had.
A 79-year-old woman from Wesley Chapel was driving one of the cars. She was taken to the hospital, where she died Thursday, troopers reported.
A 27-year-old man from Zephyrhills was driving the second car. He was seriously injured, as was a 3-year-old girl in the car with him. Three other passengers -- a 1-year-old boy, a 19-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman -- suffered minor injuries. All the passengers are from Zephyrhills.
Troopers said the 1-year-old was in a child restraint, but the 3-year-old was not.
