ZEPHYRHILLS — The city of Zephyrhills and Main Street Zephyrhills are searching for artists.

The city and the downtown agency are putting out a a call for artists for a mural on 7th Street in the downtown core. The mural will be located on the south-facing wall of 5210 7th St., a one-story white-colored building. Artists must complete an application documenting their relevant experience and proposed concept for the mural, along with a budget not to exceed $5,000.

This mural, according to a press release from Main Street Zephyrhills, “will be an attraction for visitors and a source of pride for locals” residing in the city that is sometimes called the “city of pure water.”

Water is not the central theme of the project, but the mural should include an interpretation of water in some form. Proposals paying homage to the city’s history while portraying Zephyrhills in a fresh, creative way will be favored, according to the press release..

Submissions will be evaluated by a selection committee seeking designs that can be painted or transferred on to an outdoor, painted brick wall.

Applications are due by Feb. 26. For information, contact Main Street Zephyrhills at Info@MainStreetZephyrhills.org or 813-780-1414.
