HOLIDAY — A 46-year-old man was fatally struck by a pickup truck driver on U.S. 19 on Wednesday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The incident took place about 11:15 p.m. on U.S. 19 near Panorama Boulevard.

The 46-year-old Holiday man was trying to walk east across U.S. 19 when he entered the path of a pickup heading south, the Highway Patrol said. The man died from his injuries at the crash scene, troopers said.

The 54-year-old Hudson woman driving the pickup was not injured.

The Highway Patrol did not release the name of the pedestrian and driver because of its interpretation of Marsy’s Law, a voter-approved amendment to the state Constitution that was meant to protect crime victims but that deprives the public of information long available under Florida’s public records law.
