DADE CITY — A 35-year-old Dade City woman was struck and killed by a pickup truck early today as she walked across U.S. 301 north of Dade City, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The pickup was headed north on U.S. 301 near Delong Road at about 12:25 a.m. when the woman walked east into its path, the Highway Patrol said. There were no injuries to the occupants of the truck — the driver, a 53-year-old Ridge Manor man, and a 25-year-old Ridge Manor woman riding with him.

The Highway Patrol did not release the names of those involved in the incident because of its interpretation of Marsy’s Law, a voter-approved amendment to the state Constitution that was meant to protect crime victims but that deprives the public of information long available under Florida’s public records law.
