HUDSON — A 39-year-old Spring Hill man was struck and killed by a car while trying to cross U.S. 19 at Fulton Avenue on his bicycle, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The collision occurred about 6:20 a.m. today as the bicyclist was headed west across U.S. 19 north of Hudson. He entered the path of a northbound car driven by a 76-year-old Tarpon Springs man and was hit, the Highway Patrol said.

The agency did not release the name of the two men because of its interpretation of Marsy’s Law, a voter-approved amendment to the state Constitution that was meant to protect crime victims but that deprives the public of information long available under Florida’s public records law.
