Kentucky woman struck, killed while crossing U.S. 19 in Port Richey

The driver and a passenger were not injured in the crash, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

PORT RICHEY — A 42-year-old pedestrian died early Saturday morning after she was struck by a car while attempting to cross U.S. 19, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A woman from Union, Ky., attempted to walk west across the highway just north of Regency Park Boulevard at about 5:45 a.m., troopers said. She was struck by a sedan driving south on U.S. 19. She was pronounced dead a hospital.

The 33-year-old male driver and a 30-year-old female passenger, both of Hudson, were not injured, troopers said. Both were wearing seatbelts.

The Highway Patrol said it was still trying to notify the woman’s family about her death. The crash remains under investigation.
