Pasco to help with ‘Clear the Shelters’ pet adoption event this Saturday

No cost pet adoptions planned as part of the national program.

LAND O’LAKES — Individuals and families looking for a new furry companion have an opportunity this Saturday to find a new pet and pay no adoption fee.

Pasco County Animal Services if offering free adoptions from noon until 6:30 p.m. that day as part of the national “Clear the Shelters” promotion, which has provided new homes for more than 250,000 pets across the country.

While adoption fees are waived on that day, Pasco residents will be required to purchase a county license for each pet adopted. Adoptions include spay or neuter surgery, vaccinations and microchipping.
