Driver killed when he hits tree, car catches fire near San Antonio, troopers say

SAN ANTONIO — A man died when his car hit a tree and caught fire after he drove off a road that curved sharply to his left, the Highway Patrol said.

The crash occurred about 4:10 a.m. Friday on Curley Road at Prospect Road south of San Antonio.

The man was headed south and failed to negotiate the curve where Curley turns east and becomes Prospect Road.

The Highway Patrol was still trying to identify the man Friday.
