Woman, 65, killed while walking across New Port Richey street, troopers say

She was struck by a car while trying to cross Rowan Road at the entrance to Hacienda Village mobile home park.

NEW PORT RICHEY — A 65-year-old Port Richey woman was struck and killed Thursday morning after she walked into the path of a car on Rowan Road, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The woman was hit around 4:40 a.m. while trying to cross Rowan Road at Gibraltar Avenue, the Highway Patrol said, at the entrance to Hacienda Village mobile home park.

The driver, a 30-year-old New Port Richey woman, was headed south on Rowan at the time of the collision.

The Highway Patrol did not release the names of the driver or the pedestrian.
