Dade City man, 58, dies after losing control of his SUV and hitting a tree

The crash occurred Wednesday afternoon at U.S. 301 and Gould Road, the Highway Patrol said.

DADE CITY — A 58-year-old Dade City man died after he lost control of his sport utility vehicle and hit a tree Wednesday north of Dade City, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The crash occurred about 4 p.m. at U.S. 301 and Gould Road.

The man was driving north on U.S. 301 approaching the intersection of Gould Road when he lost control of his vehicle for unknown reasons, left the roadway and hit a tree. He later died at a hospital. He was wearing a seatbelt.

The Highway Patrol did not release the man’s name.
