Two people were thrown from a motorcycle after the driver ran a red light and collided with a sedan at a Pasco County intersection Tuesday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A 43-year-old man from Hudson was driving a motorcycle east on Massachusetts Avenue around 2:25 p.m. when a westbound sedan driven by a 41-year-old woman from New Port Richey turned left at the intersection of Little Road, troopers said.

The woman had a green turn arrow, but the motorcycle driver “continued eastbound under a red traffic signal,” the agency said in a news release Tuesday night. “As a result, the two vehicles collided within the intersection.”

The motorcyclist and his passenger, a 49-year-old woman from Hudson, were ejected. Troopers said neither was wearing a helmet.

Both were taken to an area hospital. The Hudson woman died Tuesday, and, according to an updated news release Wednesday afternoon, the motorcycle driver died overnight.

The sedan driver’s injuries were described as minor. She was wearing a seat belt, troopers said.

The Highway Patrol did not name any of the people involved in the crash.
