Body discovered in Tarpon Springs

A body was discovered in a wooded area in Tarpon Springs Wednesday afternoon, according to the Tarpon Springs Police Department.

According to the authorities, a person called 911 at 5:10 p.m. after stumbling upon a set of remains while fishing near The Bridge Lounge at 1056 North Pinellas Ave.

Detectives are investigating but say foul play is not currently suspected.

The remains were sent to the Pinellas/Pasco Medical Examiner’s office for identification and to determine the cause and manner of death.
