OLDSMAR — A severe fire Sunday night left a two-story, nearly 10,000 square foot home with about $1 million in damage.

Tom Jamison, the East Lake Fire Rescue Fire Chief, said the blaze in the 1800 block of Muirfield Way took out the second floor’s roof and destroyed the four-car garage. Nobody was hurt in the fire or rescue, he said.

“I would not be surprised to see the house brought to the ground and redone,” Jamison said.

The residents called in the fire about 10:30 p.m. Sunday, and fire crews from East Lake, Tarpon Springs, Palm Harbor and Safety Harbor responded. It took them until about 1 a.m. to extinguish the fire, Jamison said.

Because of the high cost of damages, the cause of the fire is being investigated by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office and the state Fire Marshal. The fire is not considered suspicious, Jamison said.

The house was built in 2009.
