Man dies after driving motor scooter off road in Treasure Island

Police said the New Port Richey man, a 27-year-old driving a rental, did not have a helmet.

A New Port Richey man died late Saturday night after driving off the road in Treasure Island, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

Nolan Ryan Webb, 27, was driving north on Gulf Boulevard but didn’t follow a curve in the road and drove off, deputies said. Webb hit a bush, a metal water utility pipe and a cement retaining wall at around 11:15 p.m. near 10133 Gulf Boulevard. He was driving a 2015 Yamaha motor scooter.

Though a bystander heard the crash earlier, Webb was discovered by people walking along the sidewalk Sunday at 12:45 a.m. Deputies pronounced him dead on scene.

Webb was not wearing a helmet, according to deputies. Investigators are not sure if speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.

An investigation is ongoing.
