LARGO — A 60-year-old Largo man riding a motorcycle was killed when a car turned into his path as he was headed south on Belcher Road on Saturday night, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The car, driven by a 61-year-old St. Petersburg woman, turned south onto Belcher Road from 114th Avenue N about 7:15 p.m. the Highway Patrol said. The motorcycle collided with the rear of the car and the rider was ejected.

He later died from his injuries at a hospital. The driver of the car was not injured.

The Highway Patrol did not release the names of those involved in the collision because of its interpretation of Marsy’s Law, a constitutional amendment passed by Florida voters in 2018 that is meant to protect crime victims but it deprives the public of information that had long been made available under state public records law.
