After about 30 years in business, Gator’s Cafe, the waterfront restaurant and sports bar at John’s Pass, has announced it will close permanently.

The closure was announced in a Facebook post Thursday afternoon. In the comment section, restaurant-goers lamented the news, sharing stories of birthday celebrations, early romances and live music shared at the restaurant.

“What we will miss most of all is YOU,” the restaurant’s Facebook post read.

In the next few weeks, Gator’s will sell T-shirts and other merchandise online and will ship it anywhere in the United States.

The owners of the restaurant did not respond on Saturday to an email, Facebook message and phone call seeking comment.
