An 85-year-old Largo man died after walking into the path of a sport-utility vehicle Wednesday night on Seminole Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred at about 6:55 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Seminole Boulevard (U.S. 19 Alternate) and 119th Avenue North, south of Largo, troopers said. The SUV, driven by a 68-year-old Largo man, was headed north when the pedestrian walked into its path.
The pedestrian was taken to an area hospital, troopers said, where he later died of his injuries.
The Highway Patrol did not identify either man because of its interpretation of Marsy’s Law, a constitutional amendment passed by Florida voters in 2018 that is meant to protect crime victims but deprives the public of information that had long been available under the state’s public records law.
