A pedestrian was killed in a crash in Pinellas Park early Friday morning. The driver of the car that hit the pedestrian was arrested on a drunken driving charge, police reported.

The crash occurred about 12:25 a.m. in the 6900 block of 66th Street N. Pinellas Park police said Carly Christopher, 22, of St. Petersburg, was driving a 2016 Nissan Sentra north in the middle lane of 66th Street when the vehicle struck the pedestrian, who was not in a crosswalk.

Police identified the pedestrian as 33-year-old Jesus Ramon Gutierrez-Hipolito of St. Petersburg.

Police said officers noted that Christopher showed signs of impairment. Two breath samples showed her blood-alcohol count measured 0.153 and 0.156, which are about twice the level at which Florida law presumes impairment, police said.

Christopher was arrested on a DUI charge and booked at the Pinellas County jail, where she remained Friday morning held on $500 bail.
