2 killed, 3 injured when SUV overturns on I-275 near Ulmerton, troopers say

ST. PETERSBURG — Two people died and three were injured Friday morning when the driver of a sport utility vehicle lost control and it overturned on Interstate 275 shoulder near Ulmerton Road, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The SUV was headed south at 7:10 a.m. when the driver, a 19-year-old Tampa man, lost control for unknown reasons, the Highway Patrol said.

All five occupants of the SUV were Tampa men. Three of the passengers were not wearing seatbelts and were ejected from the vehicle.

The driver received minor injuries. Those killed in the crash were 23 and 30. A third passenger, 30, received critical injuries, and a fourth, 21, received minor injuries.

The Highway Patrol did not release their names.
