Palm Harbor man, 55, struck and killed walking across U.S. 19, troopers say

A 55-year-old Palm Harbor man was struck by a car and killed Wednesday night as he was walking across U.S. 19, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The driver, a 28-year-old Clearwater woman, was headed south on U.S. 19 near Nebraska Avenue in Palm Harbor about 8:50 p.m. when the man walked into her path, headed east to west. U.S. 19 at the scene of the collision is a 10-lane divided highway.

The man died at the scene from his injuries.

The Highway Patrol did not release the names of the pedestrian or driver.
