Dump truck hits, kills St. Petersburg woman walking on I-275, troopers say

The collision occurred about 9:20 a.m. near the 26th Avenue South exit.

ST. PETERSBURG — A dump truck driver struck and killed a 37-year-old St. Petersburg woman who stepped into his path Monday morning on Interstate 275 in south St. Petersburg, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The collision occurred about 9:20 a.m. near the 26th Avenue South exit.

The driver, a 57-year-old Tampa man, was headed north on I-275 when the woman stepped in front of him for unknown reasons, the Highway Patrol said.

Their names were not released.
