DUNEDIN — A 23-year-old Holiday man died after driving his car into the rear of a semitractor-trailer Tuesday morning on U.S. 19, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The crash occurred about 5:20 a.m. just north of Curlew Road and closed northbound lanes of U.S. 19.
The driver was headed north on U.S., 19 in a Nissan sedan when he overtook the truck for unknown reasons and crashed into it, troopers said. He later died at a hospital from his injuries.
The truck driver, a 43-year-old Orlando man, received minor injuries. Troopers described his vehicle as a dairy truck.
The Highway Patrol did not release the names of the two drivers.
