A man is dead after he was struck by a driver in a truck while walking in Largo Tuesday morning, according to police.

The pedestrian was on the south side of Judy Lee Drive, near Lake Judy Lee Drive, walking east, when the driver of an eastbound Ford F-150 truck hit him around 8:26 a.m., the Largo Police Department said in a news release Tuesday afternoon.

The man, described as elderly, “was alert and oriented with medical staff on scene,” the release said, and his injuries were believed to be minor. However, he was taken to an area hospital and died soon after that.

Police said they don’t believe speed, alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash, and criminal charges are not anticipated at this point in the investigation.

The Police Department did not provide any identifying information about the man who died or the Ford driver.
