A Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office deputy struck and injured a 15-year-old pedestrian with a pickup in Seminole Thursday morning, deputies said.

Deputy James Wilson was driving his agency-issued 2024 Ford F-350 pickup in the area of Oakhurst Road and Ridgeland Drive about 6:45 a.m. when he struck the boy, a sheriff’s office spokesperson said.

The boy was taken to a local hospital with a minor injury that was not life-threatening, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies have not yet released the boy’s name.

An investigation into the crash was ongoing Thursday. No other details have been released.

The crash is the second involving a Tampa Bay law enforcement vehicle and a teenager in about 12 hours.

A Tampa police officer struck a 13-year-old bicyclist with her patrol vehicle Wednesday evening as teen tried to cross East Busch Boulevard, leaving the teen girl in critical condition, police said.
