Prosecutors drop case against Pinellas lawyer John Trevena

LARGO — Prosecutors decided this month not to file charges against prominent Pinellas criminal defense lawyer John Trevena, who was accused in March of hitting his ex-wife.

Police arrested Trevena on March 11 on a charge of misdemeanor domestic battery following an altercation at Meredith Trevena's Largo apartment. A judge ordered the pair have no contact while the court case was pending.

Weeks later, Meredith Trevena signed a document asking the the Pinellas-Pasco State Attorney's Office not to prosecute her ex-husband, and for contact to be restored.

Prosecutors dropped the case April 6.

Trevena is representing Clearwater parking lot shooter Michael Drejka.
