Dr. Delay: Why are speed reductions still in place at Park and Starkey?

Published November 5 2018

Why is the speed reduced from 45 mph to 35 mph on Park Street northbound at 84th Lane only and on Starkey Road between 86th Street and 82 Street southbound only? The construction is finished yet the speed reductions remain in place. Why are they still there?

Ken Van Alstyne.

We asked Pinellas County Traffic Engineer Tom Washburn, who said, "These are signs that were posted during construction. The contractor is still finishing up minor items on the project, but we have requested that they begin to remove any temporary signing that is no longer necessary."
