Skyway neighborhoods to hold rally

ST. PETERSBURG — Four neighborhoods, Bahama Shores, Bayou Highlands, Greater Pinellas Point and Lakewood Terrace, will hold a second food truck rally as part of their effort to stir up interest in the largely vacant Skyway Plaza shopping center, where a Sweet Bay was once the anchor.

The event, which will also include a talent show and vendors, will take place from 12:05-5 p.m., Saturday, at the Skyway Plaza, Dr. Martin Luther King Street S and 62nd Avenue.

The organizers said both the city and Brixmor Property Group, which owns the 10-acre shopping center, have been supportive of their Skyway Plaza revitalization initiative.

The four neighborhoods recently received the Best Neighborhood Partnerships - Multiple Neighborhoods award at the 2018 Mayor’s Neighborhood Partnership Awards & Social held at the Historic Manhattan Casino.
