TAMPA — Hillsborough County Commissioner Kevin Beckner has attracted another Republican opponent.
Don Kruse, who has run unsuccessfully for County Commission three times before, including for Beckner's at-large District 6, Monday announced his intention to challenge the incumbent. Kruse, 52, is a former car salesman who runs a beauty school with his wife.
"We need to take steps now to ensure a vibrant economic future for Hillsborough County and its residents, with strong leadership in economic development and by creating a climate that helps businesses thrive and expand," he said in a news release.
Kruse ran for commission in 2006 and 2008. He filed to run in 2010 but withdrew. Republican Margaret Iuculano is also challenging Beckner. A third, Steve Cona, recently dropped out.
