Republican incumbent Chris Sprowls re-elected to District 65 seat of the Florida House

In House District 65, incumbent Chris Sprowls, a 32-year-old lawyer first elected to the seat in 2014, beat out Democratic challenger Bernie Fensterwald with 65 percent of the vote.

During his first term in the house, Sprowls filed a successful bill about school choice, or the ideology that parents should be able to choose from an array of education alternatives for their child, rather than be forced to enroll them in the public school they are zoned for.

He did not immediately return calls for comment after election results were reported, but has said he plans to continue his support of school choice and better medical policies, as well as his strong opposition to legislation related to legalizing marijuana. His district covers parts of Tarpon Springs, Palm Harbor and Dunedin.
