Portillo's prepares to hire for Brandon spot

Now that Portillo's has found a spot for its first Florida restaurant in Brandon, it's looking for managers.

The Chicago-based eatery known for its hot dogs, Italian beef, burgers, salads and chocolate cake will hold open interviews Monday and Tuesday for restaurant managers.

Open interviews are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Embassy Suites Tampa Brandon, 10220 Palm River Road.

To be considered, you must have at least two to three years of recent restaurant management experience. Applicants may apply online in advance at jobs.portillos.com.

If you can't wait to try the food from the little hot dog stand that Dick Portillo opened in 1963 in a Chicago suburb and grew into an institution, you can sample the dogs, tamales and ribs by shopping online at shop.portillos.com. Also, find them at facebook.com/portillos.hotdog and register for a chance to receive an exclusive invitation to attend preopening free test meal days.

Portillo's is scheduled to open in March on the northwest corner of Brandon Boulevard and Lakewood Drive.
