Florida woman, on fire, crashes car into Sheriff's Office substation

PEMBROKE PINES — A woman, who was engulfed in flames crashed her car into a Sheriff's Office substation on Monday, according to ABC 10.

The unidentified woman drove her Toyota Camry across a garden and crashed into a window of a Broward Sheriff's Office substation in Pembroke Pines, according to ABC 10.

Ben Mendez was painting outside the building and ran in to see if he could help, ABC 10 reported. He said that when he got inside to help, the woman was already on fire.

"She was on fire already, so I'm assuming she lit herself on fire," Mendez told ABC 10.

Mendez pulled her out of the car and extinguished the fire as fast as possible, according to ABC 10. Authorities later found an accelerant inside of her car.

The woman was walking around naked before firefighters arrived and covered her. The woman didn't struggle with authorities, according to ABC 10.

Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue Michael Kane told ABC 10 the woman was hospitalized with third-degree burns across her body.

The accident is under investigation, ABC 10 reported.
