A 3-year-old boy suffered injuries that weren't life-threatening after a dog bit him while trick-or-treating Tuesday night, Pinellas County deputies said.
Michael Lanfranchi suffered wounds to his face, neck and head about 7:40 p.m., deputies said. His parents separated the dog and their son, deputies said.
Michael was with a group of children on Shawnee Road.
At one home, after no answer, deputies said they believe the boy may have opened the door. A 40-pound mixed breed came out and bit the boy.
Michael's father, Joseph Lanfranchi, 34; and mother, Christine Bechtold, 39, were able to get the dog back inside.
Michael was taken to Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital.
The homeowner, Damian Romero, 34, arrived and told deputies his door was closed, but unlocked.
