After the boat hit a piling, Mundie jumped into the water and her hair became entangled in the propeller, witnesses said. She was listed in critical condition Tuesday at Tampa General Hospital, said hospital spokeswoman Ellen Fiss.

The driver of the 15-foot Gheenoe, 22-year-old Keith Rhode of Lutz, died from injuries he received when he was ejected in the collision.

Witnesses jumped in to help Mundie and one found her underwater, entangled by her hair in the propeller. She was under water for several minutes before they could guide the boat to shore and free her, witnesses said.
