CLEARWATER — Two people died Friday in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 19 south of Curlew Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the driver of a 2004 Jaguar was heading north on U.S. 19 around 3:30 p.m. and turned left toward Doral Village at 29250 U.S. 19 N. A Ford sedan, driven by Charles Prugh, 63, of Clearwater was going south on U.S. 19, and collided with the Jaguar.
The female passenger of the Jaguar was pronounced dead at the scene. The male driver was taken to Mease Countryside Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Prugh was seriously injured in the crash and taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg. The occupants of the Jaguar were not identified pending notification of next of kin. Everyone involved was wearing seat belts, the FHP said.
