CLEARWATER — Westbound lanes on the Courtney Campbell Causeway were closed for three hours after a motorcyclist struck the back of a car and was killed early Friday morning.
According to police, the crash occurred around 4 a.m. on the Clearwater side of the causeway, near Damascus Road.
Police say Nathaniel Varnadore, 29, of Largo, was transported to Mease Countryside Hospital, where he died from his injuries.e_SClBAccording to police, Varnadore crashed his 2018 Suzuki into the the back of a 2005 Honda Civic driven by Anthony Tucker, 59, of Dunedin.

Motorists were turned around just west of Rocky Point Drive, police say, and were told to use the Howard Frankland Bridge, Gandy Bridge or Hillsborough Avenue as detours to get from Hillsborough to Pinellas County.
The roadway has since reopened.
