ST. PETERSBURG — A man driving a scooter was killed Monday morning when he was struck by a pickup truck, according to St. Petersburg police.
The crash took place at about 6:45 a.m. at 16th Street N between Third and Fourth Avenues N, police said.
Steven Busch, 53, was driving a Chevrolet pickup northbound on 16th Street N when police said he attempted to turn left onto Third Avenue N.
That's when he struck the scooter, police said, which was heading southbound on 16th Street N.
The 53-year-old man riding the scooter was thrown from the vehicle, police said, and pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing his helmet, police said. The man's identity was not released by police on Monday.
Busch stopped at the crash scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said. Impairment was deemed not to be a factor in the crash.
