St. Petersburg man killed by hit and run driver, authorities say

ST. PETERSBURG — A St. Petersburg man died Wednesday after he was struck by two cars, authorities said.

About 7:20 p.m., Levi Brodie Forsyth, 38, was walking in a travel lane near the intersection of 54th Avenue N and Haines Road when he was struck by an unknown vehicle, propelling him into the path of a 2015 Ford Edge, Florida Highway Patrol authorities said.

The driver of the Ford, 33-year-old Heath Ann Campbell, stopped after Forsyth was struck, but the other driver fled. Forsyth was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, where he died.

The first vehicle was described as a small to mid-size vehicle, possibly a red or gold SUV. FHP is asking anyone with information about the first driver to contact officials at 727-582-5806.
