Two Clearwater residents killed, boy critically injured in Alachua crash

Two Clearwater residents were killed Monday night and a 10-year-old boy was critically injured in a crash in Alachua County.

The crash occurred on County Road 1474, just north of Hawthorne, around 7 p.m., according the Florida Highway Patrol.

According to FHP, Marisol Garcia, 39, was driving a 1993 Chevy Prizm eastbound on County Road 1474 when she ran a stop sign at the intersection of County Road 219A and drove into the path of a southbound 2017 Chevy Silverado pickup driven by 36-year-old Christopher Fagan.

Garcia and a passenger, 40-year-old Robin Rivera, died at the scene, FHP said. A second passenger, 10-year-old Derek Garcia, is listed in critical condition at UF Health Shands Hospital.

Fagan sustained minor injuries, FHP said.

Marisol Garcia and Rivera were wearing seatbelts, FHP said, it was uncertain whether alcohol was involved.
