Clearwater police identify woman killed in pedestrian crash on Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard

 
Officials investigate the scene where a 67-year-old woman was killed Thursday night after she was struck by a vehicle near Clearwater High School, police said. The accident occurred around 9:15 p.m. in the westbound lanes of Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard at Meteor Avenue. Those westbound lanes were closed after the accident while authorities investigated. Clearwater police said it does not appear the driver of the vehicle was at fault.

Officials investigate the scene where Janet Helwig, 67, of Clearwater was killed Thursday after she was struck by a vehicle near Clearwater High School, police said. The accident, which happened around 9:15 p.m., occurred in the westbound lanes of Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard at Meteor Avenue. Clearwater police said it does not appear the driver of the vehicle was at fault. No charges are expected. The investigation closed the westbound lanes of traffic.
