BRANDON — Two people were killed and another person severely injured Monday morning in a rear-end collision.

The crash happened about 11:35 a.m. at the intersection of N Parsons and E Jersey avenues.

Sanita Sookdeo, 48, of Dover was speeding south on Parsons Avenue in a 2007 GMC Denali when she slammed into the back of a 2003 Acura, according to Hillsborough sheriff's officials. The Denali's wheels rolled over the Acura.

The Denali kept moving southeast, over an embankment, then across E Jersey Avenue, where it came to a stop upside down after hitting a tree, officials said.

Richard Crete, 54, and Tanya Crete, 58, of Riverview were in the Acura and both were severely injured when it was hit. Richard Crete later died at Tampa General Hospital. Tanya Crete died at Brandon Regional Hospital.

Sookdeo was taken to Tampa General Hospital with severe injuries, officials said. Criminal charges related to the crash were pending, sheriff's officials said, but alcohol and drugs were not believed to have been a factor.

Two other cars were damaged in the collision, though no one else was injured.
