Driver sought in fatal motor scooter crash

Police are looking for the driver of a car that left the scene of a fatal scooter crash early Saturday.

Daniel Irizarry, 37, was driving a 2014 Bash motor scooter on U.S. 19 near 150th Avenue about 12:40 a.m. when a silver Nissan Maxima struck him from behind, Largo police said. The the impact threw Irizarry into the roadway and he was run over by a second car. The driver of the Maxima stayed at the scene. The other car drove away. Irizarry was killed, police said.

The car is described as a dark-colored, four-door compact with missing hubcaps and black steel wheels. Police ask any witnesses or others with information about the crash to call Officer Keith Snyder, (727) 587-6730.
