One dead in fatal Clearwater crash with another injured

CLEARWATER — Authorities have released more details from the fatal crash near Drew Street and Duncan Avenue Monday morning that left one person dead and another critically injured.

Clearwater police said 52-year-old Felicia Cunningham of Largo was killed in the crash. Elizabeth Rivera, 34, of Clearwater was critically injured and was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg.

According to the preliminary investigation, two cars were traveling east on Drew Street around 6:33 a.m. when they collided. One was driven by Cunningham, and the other by Patrick Emery Smith, 39, of St. Petersburg, who was not injured. Cunningham's car flipped on its side and hit Rivera's westbound car, police said.

The other driver in the four-car collision, Gregory Alan Bennett, 43, of Clearwater, also was not injured. He was driving a Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority bus west on Drew Street. There was no passengers in the bus, which sustained minor damage.

Drew Street remained closed in both directions until 11 a.m., officials said. The investigation into this crash was ongoing.
