SEMINOLE — A 32-year-old motorcyclist died Thursday afternoon in a fiery crash after losing control of his bike while weaving through traffic, deputies said.

Authorities say Gregory Lavallie of Largo was riding a motorcycle south on Park Street N in Seminole just before 1 p.m. While traffic slowed approaching a light turning from yellow to red, Lavallie continued driving "at a high rate of speed between cars," according to a Pinellas County Sheriff's Office news release.

Lavallie entered the intersection of Park Street and 49th Avenue, just as the driver of a Subaru started turning left onto 49th Avenue with a green light, the Sheriff's Office said.

Lavallie swerved, authorities said, and lost control of the motorcycle. He was ejected from the bike and hit the back wheel area of the Subaru.

The motorcycle slid down the road and caught fire.

Authorities pronounced Lavallie dead at the scene.

The Subaru driver was not hurt.
