PORT RICHEY — A motorcyclist was struck from behind and killed while waiting at a red light early Monday on U.S. 19 at State Road 52, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Kristopher A. Lucas, 46, of Port Richey was struck about 5:23 a.m. by a northbound pickup truck driven by Ramon E. Spluga, 62, also of Port Richey, the highway patrol said.

Lucas, driving a 2007 Harley Davidson, died later at a hospital.

Spluga was driving a 2010 Ford Ranger. Both vehicles came to a stop at the north end of the intersection.

Alcohol was not a factor in the collision, the highway patrol said. Charges are pending.
