Motorcycle passenger dies after husband loses control of bike

PINELLAS PARK — A 28-year-old motorcycle passenger riding with her husband when he lost control of the bike Wednesday evening has died from her injuries, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Fernando Jose Asencio, 41, of Pinellas Park had been riding the motorcycle east on 71st Avenue N, west of 67th Way, when he lost control of the bike for unknown reasons, the FHP said.

The bike overturned, throwing both Asencio and his wife, Ercilia M. Figueroa-Lizardo, into the road. Neither was wearing a helmet.

The Pinellas Park couple were taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, where Figueroa-Lizardo died on Thursday. She was 28.
