A motorcyclist died late Wednesday after a head-on collision with a car.

Troopers said Jason Joiner, 35, of Thonotosassa, was driving a Kawasaki motorcycle south on US Highway 301 just north of the Hillsborough-Pasco County line about 11:10 p.m. when he drifted across the center line and into the northbound lane.

Joann Kraft, 67, of Zephyrhills was driving north but swerved into the southbound lane to avoid Joiner. Joiner overcorrected, and swerved back into the path of Kraft's Chevrolet Impala.

Joiner and Kraft collided head-on and came to rest on opposite shoulders of the highway. Joiner died at the scene.
