Motorcyclist injured in crash on Interstate 275

A motorcyclist was critically injured Monday night when he crashed into a sedan that was slowing down to avoid another crash on Interstate 275, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Roman Dominic Izzo, 37, of St. Petersburg was driving a 2015 Victory motorcycle in the inside northbound lane of I-275 near the downtown exit for I-175 when the FHP said he drove collided with the back of a 2015 Toyota sedan around 8:36 p.m.

The driver of the car, Sergio Bentley, 26, and passenger George Higney, 55, were not injured, the FHP said.

Troopers said Izzo was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
