Northbound Veterans Expressway reopened after overturned semi trailer caught fire

Published Mar. 8, 2016

TAMPA — After being shut down for several hours Tuesday following an accident, the northbound Veterans Expressway has reopened.

The expressway was closed after a semi trailer struck a guard rail, overturned and then caught fire, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were on scene and there were injuries, the Sheriff's Office said. The truck driver was pulled from the wreckage and was taken to an area hospital. His injuries don't appear to be life-threatening, deputies said.

The truck crashed just south of W Waters Avenue.
