DOVER — One person was killed late Monday afternoon when an Amtrak passenger train struck a vehicle, causing it to burst into flames, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The 2012 Buick was traveling north on an access road as it crossed railroad tracks near State Road 574 and Jordan Road and was struck by the train at 4:35 p.m., FHP said.

The car's driver was pronounced dead at the scene. They were not immediately identified, pending notification of family.

None of the 147 occupants aboard the two-engine, eight-passenger car train was injured.
